Karla Font is a grotesque, open-source sans-serif typeface designed by Jonathan Pinhorn. Karla isn't perfect - the spacing is a bit wide and some of the kerning look a bit out of place, however, this font has tons of character and there really aren't other wacky grotesques like this that are available for free. Karla is available in seven weights with matching italics.

After completing a master's degree in type design at the University of Reading, Jonny went on to design Karla for Google Fonts. Karla is a popular and quirky sans-serif typeface that supports both Latin and Tamil alphabets. His continued fascination with India and Indian languages led him to the ITF, where he worked for three years. Jonny continues to work exclusively on Indic scripts, including Shrikhand and Atithi more recently.
